Introduction to Encaustic Painting

Saturday, April 15th, 1:00 – 5:00pm

These four (4) hour encaustic class starts with a brief history of encaustic painting and basic instruction on safety.  You will be introduced to the basics of painting with pigmented wax, including fusing, incising and layering. Delve into the myriad of ways to manipulate the wax through collage, stenciling, imbedding and photo transfers.

After the demonstration of each technique, you will be able to take everything you have learned and create your own piece of art.  You will end the day with a finished piece (or three!) to take home.

Saturday Morning Kids Class 10-11:30

Saturday, April 22 – 4 weeks

MAX’s Saturday morning art class (10-11:30am) for kids teaches drawing fundamentals to children 6 through 12. Over four Saturdays, we cover basics such as drawing from life, perspective, proportion and shading. We practice good drawing technique, but the emphasis will be on fun and hands-on art making. Each week’s goal is to deliver a bit of instruction and have plenty of time for kids to make art and produce frame-able images to take home.
